Senator Alan Peter Cayetano Engages with Filipinos in Geneva and Vaud

16 May 2017 GENEVA — On May 08, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano met with the members of the Filipino community in cantons Geneva and Vaud at the conference room of the Philippine Mission to the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Geneva. The day before he met the Filipino community from all over Europe on May 07 at the La Baita Restaurant, also in Geneva.

During the meeting, Senator Cayetano reassured the Filipinos of President Rodrigo Duterte’s agenda for change in the Philippines. He assured those in attendance that the country safe to live in.

Senator Cayetano is in Geneva as co-lead of the Philippine delegation to the Universal Periodic Review (UPR).

The UPR is a state-driven voluntary process involving all UN Member States which aims at improving the human rights situation in each of the 193 UN Member States. Under this, the human rights situation of all member states is reviewed every 5 years. The Philippines and 13 other countries comprise the first batch of countries in the third cycle of the UPR.
