PHL Consulate General in Geneva Briefs Filipino Community Leaders on Ph’s Anti-Illegal Drug Campaign

10 May 2017 GENEVA, SWITZERLAND — The Philippine Consulate General in Geneva, Switzerland, headed by Consul General Enrico T. Fos, sat down with Filipino community leaders of the cantons Geneva and Vaud, Switzerland to discuss the Anti-Illegal Drug Campaign of the Philippine government on April 19.
Consul General Fos emphasized the priorities and development and governance agenda of the current administration, under which the campaign against drugs is being pursued. His presentation also shed light on misunderstandings surrounding the campaign underlining that a wholistic, institutionalized approach that adheres to the human rights principles and makes use of best international practices and resources in addressing treatment and rehabilitation.
The meeting had a lively open forum where the attendees expressed appreciation for the Philippine government’s initiative to disseminate information on the country’s anti-drug campaign saying, “this is very beneficial especially to Filipinos like us living abroad who do not have the opportunity to comprehend and see first-hand the developments going on in the country”.
