01 March 2017 GENEVA – Foreign Affairs Secretary Perfecto R. Yasay, Jr. met with High Commissioner for Human Rights, Mr. Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein at the Palais des Nations in Geneva on February 27.  This was the first meeting between Secretary Yasay and a high-ranking UN official since he assumed office. 

High Commissioner Zeid welcomed Secretary's participation in the High Level Session of the 34th Session of the Human Rights Council, a 47-member body of which the Philippines is a member.  During the meeting, Secretary Yasay articulated the Philippine position on the government's campaign against illegal drugs. The two officials agreed on the importance of continuing constructive engagement. END
