GENEVA TRAFF

25 July 2016- The Philippine Mission to the United Nations and other International Organizations in Geneva, together with the Permanent Mission of Germany in Geneva, led informal negotiations on the resolution entitled, “Trafficking in Persons, especially Women and Children: Protecting Victims of Trafficking and People at Risk of Trafficking, Especially Women and Children in Conflict and Post-Conflict Situations.” The negotiations were held in June 2016 during the 32nd Session of the Human Rights Council (HRC) at the Palais des Nations, Geneva.

The resolution strongly encourages all States to, among others, establish referral mechanisms for assistance and protection services, set up and strengthen national programs on anti-trafficking, and create policies and legislations to punish traffickers.

Representatives of various Permanent Missions, international organizations and civil society organizations participated in the negotiations. END
