14 July 2016 - The Philippine Mission to the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Geneva, in coordination with the Bangladesh and Vietnam Missions, led informal negotiations on the resolution entitled “Human Rights and Climate Change” during the 32nd Session of the Human Rights Council at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.
The resolution affirms that climate change adversely affects the full and effective enjoyment of human rights of persons, especially children. Through this resolution, the Human Rights Council requests that the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) convene a panel discussion and pursue an analytical study focusing on the effects of climate change on the human rights of people, especially children.
