L.15 Mandate of the Intergovernmental Working Group on the Effective Implementation of the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action

General Comment
Thank you, Madam President.
The Philippines fully supports this resolution extending the mandate of the Intergovernmental Working Group.
This mandate renewal is most timely and relevant given the alarming prevalence of systemic racism especially against people of African descent twenty years into the adoption of the Durban Declaration and Program of Action.
We note the recommendations of the Intergovernmental Working Group on its 17th session and believe that this resolution is an important step towards further enhancing the effectiveness of follow-up mechanisms to the Durban Declaration and to ensure better synergy and complementarities in the work of mechanisms, including the Intergovernmental Working Group, treaty bodies and special procedures mandate holders.
