06 October 2015 - The Philippine Permanent Mission to the United Nations and Other International Organizations/Philippine Consulate General (Geneva PM/PCG) and the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) concluded the 4th Entrepreneurial Workshop for Overseas Filipinos last September 27.
In her remarks during the graduation ceremony of the Workshop, Philippine Ambassador Cecilia B. Rebong congratulated the graduates for taking a positive step towards financial security and stability for their future and for their families. She underscored the aspiration of the Philippine government that every migrant worker return to the Philippines more prosperous than when they left.
In his response, Mr. Geronimo Enriquez, Jr., the graduating class representative, expressed their sincere appreciation to the Philippine Mission/Consulate General and POLO-Geneva for organizing the course. He suggested that the Financial Education program should be shared with other Filipino migrants all over the world for its practical contribution in enhancing the knowledge and appreciation of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in financial management.
Thirty-two (32) participants from the Filipino community in Geneva, Vaud and Fribourg completed the four-week, 12-hour course, which covers the basic principles of savings and investments, marketing and advertising, financial reporting, and entrepreneurship. Since its launching on 09 November 2014, the Workshop has already graduated some 150 migrants.
The Workshop is a joint project of the Philippine Mission/Consulate General and POLO-Geneva. It is part of the overall efforts of the Mission/Consulate to reach out and assist Filipino migrants in Switzerland. END
