GENEVA 20 May 2019 — The Philippines highlighted its steps to make the country disaster resilient as it shares its experiences at the before the international community at the 6th Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GP2019) being held in Geneva, Switzerland.
In delivering the country’s statement on 15 May 2019, National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) Executive Director Undersecretary Ricardo B. Jalad shared the Philippines’ contributions in making the country and the region disaster-resilient in line with the implementation of the Sendai Framework, as well as the significant progress it has achieved to ensure that disaster risk reduction and resilience remain in the Philippines’ priority agenda.
Established in 2006, GP2019 is the main forum at the global level for strategic advice, coordination, partnership development and the review of progress in the implementation of international instruments on disaster risk reduction. It is the world's foremost gathering of stakeholders committed to reducing disaster risk and building the resilience of communities and nations. END
