PH Co-Chairs GFMD’S Preparatory Meeting on Regional Mobility and Sustainable Development

GENEVA 25 May 2018 — The Philippines co-chaired with Egypt and Zambia the Global Forum on Migration and Development (GFMD) Roundtable on Regional Mobility and Policy Coherence in Support of Development held at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland on 04 May. Philippine Permanent Mission to the UN and Other International Organizations in Geneva focal person on migration, Minister Enrico T. Fos (behind the Philippine country plate), in his remarks, reminded the participants that most of international migration occurs within a specific geographic region and is mainly labor migration. He pointed out the need to ensure that there is labor mobility to maximize the potentials of migrant workers’ contribution to the development of their home and host countries.
