GENEVA 26 April 2018 — The Philippines intensified its campaign for a seat in the Council of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) during the 2018 session of the ITU Council being held in Geneva on 17-27 April. Showcasing dried mangoes and other products like local chocolates and miniature jeepneys, the Philippines hosted the afternoon coffee break of the ITU Council on 20 April as part of campaign efforts for elections that will take place in Dubai in October. The Philippines is a staunch advocate of digital inclusion and cybersecurity in the ITU, a specialized UN agency tasked with monitoring and setting global technical standards for information and communication technologies.
