Filipino Experts Take Part in International Training Program on Intellectual Property and Genetic Resources

06 December 2017 GENEVA — Five Filipinos successfully took part in an international training program on intellectual property and genetic resources that brought them to Stockholm, Basel, and Geneva from November 12 to December 01.
Culminating in a recognition ceremony at the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO) in Geneva on December 01, the program focused on the use of intellectual property as a tool for supporting innovation in developing countries, particularly on how intellectual property can help industry players, research institutions, and commercial and small farmers. The program included participants from African and Asian countries.
The participants from the Philippines were Mr. Gil Ian Lhord Go, Developing Management Officer II of the Department of Agriculture; Ms. Leizl Sueno, Science Research Specialist II and Technology Transfer Officer of the Research Information and Technology Transfer Division of the Department of Science and Technology; Ms. Marilyn Maranguit Belarmino, Genetic Resource Manager, Hortanova Research Center of the East West Seed Company; Ms. Marion Ivy Decena, Chief Science Research Specialist of the Technology Application and Promotion Institute; and Ms. Tarhata Mariano, Senior Science Research Specialist of the Metals Industry Research and Development Center.
