PHL, ICRC Vow Continued Engagement to Better Humanitarian Action

12 April 2017 GENEVA, SWITZERLAND – The Philippines and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) reaffirmed their commitment to better humanitarian action for disaster- and conflict-affected areas in the Philippines. This was reiterated on April 04 when Mr. Boris Michel, ICRC Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific, paid a courtesy call on Ambassador Evan P. Garcia, Permanent Representative of the Philippines to the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Geneva.

Both sides emphasized the importance of maintaining a robust relationship and constructive engagement and collaboration in ensuring humanitarian protection and assistance for people affected by conflict and disasters as well as in promoting respect for international humanitarian law. END
