04 November 2016 — The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Committee in Geneva, namely the Permanent Missions of Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, launched a Painting Exhibit at the Palais des Nations in celebration of the 49th Anniversary of ASEAN on October 31.
The exhibit, spearheaded by the Permanent Mission of Laos PDR to the United Nations in Geneva as the current ASEAN Chair, featured 36 paintings that depict the people, places, history, traditions and natural biodiversity of the ASEAN region.
Included in the exhibit are four artworks by Manuel A. Rodriguez Sr., the Father of Philippine Modern Printmaking, entitled “Festival Boats,” “Pabitin,” “Sabong,” and “Calesa.” The Philippines will assume chairmanship of the ASEAN Committee in Geneva in January 2017.
The exhibit will run until at the 3rd floor of Building E, Palais des Nations, Geneva until November 11. END
