26 January 2016 - Students from the Collège du Léman, an international school in Geneva, who will represent the Philippines at the The Hague International Model United Nations, were suitably impressed with the depth of the Philippine engagement in the United Nations, when the Officers of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of the Philippines to the United Nations briefed them on January 20.
“Students were afforded the opportunity to engage in discussions with Philippine Government representatives so they can better understand the various issues that will be on the agenda from a Philippine perspective, which will greatly aid them during the Competition,” said Mr. Michael Friend, Advisor,CollègeduLéman Model UN Team.
Topics discussed include Human Rights, the West Philippine Sea, Climate Change, Resilient and Mega Cities, Migration and Development, Disarmament, Sustainable Development Goals and key bilateral security and economic relations.
The Hague International Model United Nations is scheduled on January 24 to 29, 2016. It brings together around 3,500 students and 200 schools from all corners of the world to discuss important themes and simulates the United Nations system. Its primary aim is to promote interaction and dialogue between young people from a variety of backgrounds, formulating peaceful solutions to the world's problems and preparing today's youth for tomorrow's leadership positions.
