26 May 2015 – The Philippine Commission on Audit (COA) under Chairman Michael Aguinaldo was re-elected as the External Auditor of the World Health Organization for the period 2016 to 2019 at elections held in Geneva on May 21.
“We greatly appreciate the vote of confidence from the member-states of the World Health Organization in renewing our mandate as external auditor,” said Chairman Aguinaldo after the Philippines was announced the winner of the election.
“This is a recognition and validation of the professionalism, competence, and hard work of our auditors over the past four years with the WHO, and augurs well for the reputation of Filipinos in the world stage,” he added.
The Philippines, in a statement thanking the Member States, reaffirmed the commitment of the Philippines to promote transparency, good governance and accountability in financial reporting in all levels of the WHO.
The Philippines was elected to its first term by the 64th World Health Assembly in 2011 for the period 2012 to 2015. END
