22 November 2017 GENEVA — The Philippine Madrigal Singers once again regaled the expatriate community in Geneva and Vaud at their concert at the Salle Centrale Madeleine in Geneva on November 11.

“The music of the Madrigal singers is not only a gift from the Philippines and the Filipino people, not only a gift of artistry, but also the Philippines’ contribution to finding peace and harmony in this world of ours,” said Ambassador Evan P. Garcia, Permanent Representative of the Republic of the Philippines to the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Geneva, at his welcome remarks during the concert.

The well-received choir, which performed Filipino folk, gospel, lullaby and pop songs, capped their performance with a standing ovation from the audience and requests for encore performances.

The group also performed during mass at the St. John XXIII Church in Geneva on November 12 and visited the Philippine Permanent Mission in Geneva on November 14.

The Philippine Madrigal Singers, or “Madz” as they are fondly called, are also some of the country’s most active ambassadors of goodwill and have earned accolades all over the world. The group has the prestige of being the first choir in the world to win the European Grand Prix for Choral Singing twice (1997 and 2007) as well as being designated as UNESCO Artists for Peace. END
